On Monday, August 25, the varsity and junior varsity Lady Trojan Volleyball teams won against the Westview Chargers in the Terry Glover Gymnasium. The Lady Trojans had low energy in the beginning but had skillful communication that helped secure the win.
The Lady Trojan junior varsity team secured a win in the first set, scoring 25-16. Although they lost the second set, the Lady Trojans continued to communicate well on the court. Freshman Sadie Frye started the third set with kills assuring multiple points for the team. Freshmen Airah Ward and Kilayna Roberts scored multiple aces against the Chargers. On both teams the liberos, Addison Shearon and Avery Gatlin, held the defense to keep the Chargers from scoring.
On the Lady Trojan Varsity team, Gatlin started with scoring multiple aces against the Chargers. Junior Murphy Mae Morgan demonstrated multiple blocks keeping the Chargers from scoring against the Lady Trojans. Junior Bella Turnage scored multiple kills against the Chargers, helping to secure wins in all three sets.
As a result of the communication on the court, both of the junior varsity and varsity teams won against the Chargers. The junior varsity team won 2-1, and the varsity team won 3-0.
“Based on our communication this game, I think we are going to excel this weekend because we are together as a team,” junior Kate Meadows said.
