On Wednesday, September 17, DHS hosted the annual Powderpuff Championship. Powderpuff consists of four all-female football teams that compete head-to-head for the title of champion. Powderpuff players are expected to follow the rules of flag football.

To kick off the night, the matchups were seniors vs. sophomores and juniors vs. freshmen. The players only played through one quarter this night, which differs from classic football. At the end of the first quarter, the sophomores overtook the seniors 15-12. In addition, the juniors dominated the freshmen with a score of 24-0.

At the start of the second quarter, sophomores and juniors faced off against each other. With great athleticism, these girls competed intensely in hopes of being the night's winner. In the end, the DHS junior class prevailed, claiming their title as Powderpuff champions with a score of 6-0.

The night’s events were dedicated to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, a nonprofit medical center dedicated to treating and researching childhood cancers and other life-threatening diseases. DHS raised and donated $858 to St. Jude’s and hopes to continue raising awareness and support for this life-saving organization.
