On Thursday, September 18, DHS hosted its annual homecoming intramural volleyball tournament. This intramural volleyball match, played by DHS male students, resembles the format of powderpuff football. The event was organized to boost excitement for the Homecoming game, which is held on Friday at JC Sawyers Stadium. The dance will be held in the commons following the homecoming football game at 7 P.M.
To kick start the event, the junior and freshman classes took the floor. With each class bringing equal intensity, the gym cheered for the mock athletes. Multiple scores were set, and far too many out-of-bounds serves were made. This new set of DHS boys continued displaying excellent fairness towards their teammates and opponents. In the end, the juniors took the lead with a score of 24-16.
Immediately following that match, the senior class faced off against the sophomores. As the boys demonstrated their dedication to an unfamiliar sport, the student section erupted with excitement with each point gained. In great sportsmanship, the DHS senior class crept its way to victory, setting the score 18-17.
In light of the amazing performance played, DHS students should direct their attention towards the 2026 DHS Football Homecoming Dance held on September 19. The admission price is $5 per student, and the event begins after the night’s football game, where the DHS boys will face off head-to-head with Bolivar Central!
