Tommy the Trojan is the beloved mascot of Dyersburg High School. Despite his fame,
he has been relatively absent from the sidelines for the past couple of years. That
changed this year, though, with the introduction of seniors Preston Sollis and Durrell
Hopkins as the Tommies of DHS.
When asked about his experience as Tommy, Sollis explained his mixed feelings.
“It feels exciting and frightful at the same time,” Sollis said. He emphasized that it
was more exciting, though.
These feelings were echoed by Hopkins. He expressed his love for making people
cheer when he is on the sideline.
“Everybody’s happy with Tommy around. Everybody’s smiling. All the time. It’s a
happy time for everyone,” Hopkins said.
The two Tommies of DHS bring undeniable joy to students whenever they are near.
Their enthusiastic energy is simply contagious!
