Starting Thursday, September 11, McIvers Grant Public Library will be hosting a four-part event centered around the Constitution as well as foundations of America’s government and how it was formed.

Hosted at McIvers Grant Public Library, the event will occur every Thursday at 5:30pm with the last event being held October 2, 2025.

With the help of event organizers Marsh Naidoo and Mary Palmer, and student leaders senior Myren Hurst and juniors McKoyler Thach and Lillian Davis, this event will serve the community with lectures and conversations that give deeper insight into the foundations of America’s government, and most importantly, the origins and significance of the Constitution.

Moreover, the event will primarily be led by guest speaker Dr. Matthew Stafford, who will explain the origins of government in America, starting from Jamestown and Plymouth, to the formation of the Constitution and how it has shaped today’s  government.

Furthermore, the event will hold an art contest for community members who have published art ranging from paintings to poems. Although not judged, later submissions are encouraged for display in the library.

All community members are welcome to attend the educational event. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of Dyersburg’s very own Bus Stop. Come for the Constitution and stay for the snacks at McIvers Grant Public Library on September 11 at 5:30pm!
