With the start of November quickly approaching, many students may begin to feel the ‘winter blues.’ In fact, almost 50% of the adult population in the U.S. suffer from some form of seasonal depression.

So, the question is, how do you help offset these blues? There are many ways to trick your brain into feeling the same it did during the warm summer months.

Firstly, getting outside, even just taking a short walk, can help majorly. Even though the temperatures have dropped, and the sun isn’t as visible, getting some fresh air can still help clear one’s mind.

Another easier route is taking vitamin D supplements. Of course, you should consult with your doctor before taking any supplements, but oftentimes the extra vitamin D helps boost people's moods.

Finally, the most important thing is to stay connected. It is natural for people to make fewer plans to hang out with friends in the winter months since the holiday season can get very hectic. However, it is important to reach out and make plans with the people you care about.

At the end of the day, holidays are all about being with the people you care about. Don’t let the winter blues get in the way of that!
