The Trojans faced off against The Choctaws in an intense game Friday night. The Choctaws on the first play of the game pulled out a trick play for a double pass 70 yard touchdown and bounced back with a stop on defense getting the ball back quick. The Trojans came up huge with an interception on the 35 yard line and a quick post to Ty Seaton put them at the two yard line and a run in by Peyton Hill tied the game up. Dyersburg's defense was strong for the most part throughout the night coming up with huge stops but also struggling some with the DC passing game.
Before going into the half, Logston Morgan had a pass to Isaiah breaking multiple tackles and three spin moves scoring a touchdown to put the Trojans up 21-14. The second half was a rough start for the Trojans giving up a punt return to Keanthony for the Choctaws and then another touchdown putting them down 28-21.
With eight minutes left, the Trojans put together a big drive and scored with about two minutes left to go in the fourth quarter making it 28-28. Dyersburg's defense got huge stops but on what would have been fourth and seven the Trojans picked up three flags putting the Choctaws at their own 40 yard line. With three big stops again from the Trojan defense, Dyer County had to throw up a prayer to the back of the end zone, which fell incomplete and sent the game to overtime. Trojans started with the ball and had a huge run from Morgan to put the Trojans at the one yard line. They were able to score and go up, then going for the extra point, Dyersburg’s PAT got blocked. The Trojans defense put up a fight getting three stops, then Daniels for the Choctaws threw to the back of the end zone on a third and 12, throwing for a touchdown to tie the game. Joe for the Choctaws made the PAT, winning the game for Dyer County 35-34.
