On Thursday, August 28, Dyersburg’s Lady Trojans soccer team exhibited an intense display of sportsmanship as they played against Dyer County in a rival game, winning 5-0. Despite their previous loss, the Lady Trojans successfully resumed their winning streak in the 2025 season.
In the first half of the game, both Dyersburg and Dyer County’s girls' soccer teams presented strong defense. Sophomore goalkeeper GraceAnn Webb gave the Dyer County Choctaws no opportunity to score, effectively keeping the score 0-0 for the entirety of the first half.
With the second half beginning and the score tied at 0-0, the morale of both teams skyrocketed. Their performance and the tension on the field increased the desire for a goal, leading to sophomore Haddy Manneh’s first goal of the night, only six minutes into the second half.
Following the goal, both teams resumed their previous defensive efforts. Neither team scored for approximately 15 minutes until senior Kathleen Harrell brought the score up 2-0. This small victory by Harrell sparked several more goals for the Dyersburg Lady Trojans. Less than a minute later, Haddy Manneh scores another goal, bringing the Trojans up 3-0 against the Choctaws.
Almost immediately after, Harrell once again pushes to score against the Choctaws. With the score 4-0, team energy and celebration begin to break loose on the field. Manneh secures a victory for the Trojans with less than 15 minutes left in the second half, bringing the score to 5-0, and showcasing the Lady Trojans' soccer team’s hard work and dedication on the field. With this game, the DHS Lady Trojans have resumed their victories on the field.
