Dressing the Part: What Costumes are going to be the most Popular in 2025?

   With September concluding soon, that means that spooky season is about to be in full swing. It also means that it is time to start thinking about what fun costumes will be trendy this Halloween season. 

   When thinking about Halloween costumes, most people tend to think about costumes such as witches, vampires, and even horror movie characters. However, students at DHS were allowed to cast their vote on what they thought would be the most popular Halloween costume for this year, and their answers contradicted the basic costumes.

   As of November 22, 2024, Wicked characters Elphaba and Glinda have been extremely popular. The two characters have two very different senses of style and overall personalities. These characters would make for a great duo costume, but each one can also be so fun for any fan of the Wicked musical. This would explain the high numbers of votes that DHS students had for their predictions that Elphaba and Glinda would be popular this Halloween.

   Students also predict that superheroes will be a popular costume this year. Of the most popular superheroes, many people think of Spider-Man, Iron Man, Superman, and Captain America. Each of these characters comes from a different background, which makes each character appealing to different people. 

   Overall, the predictions for Halloween costumes show a mix of classics with new ideas. The voting of the DHS student body highlights the effects of culture and current events on costume choices. It will be exciting to see which costumes are truly the most popular as Halloween approaches!
