On January 5, 2026, Chick-fil-A released soda floats as a permanent addition to its menu. At Dyersburg’s location, you can order a variety of Coca-Cola floats, Dr Pepper floats, Sprite floats, and a Hi-C Fruit Punch float. Today, I had the pleasure of trying the regular Sprite, Coke, and Dr Pepper floats.

The mix of ice cream and the carbonated drinks causes an explosion of bubbles in the cup, fizzling with carbonation. The taste, however, is a combination of the sour lemon-lime taste, as well as the sweet taste of the vanilla soft serve. I noticed that as the vanilla ice cream melts and mixes with the soda, the float begins to have the soft consistency of a frosted soda (another permanent menu item; however, I have not tried this yet)!

The Dr Pepper float tasted more strongly of the soda itself—the vanilla ice cream does not taste as strongly as it did in the Sprite float. The ice cream also seemed to take slightly longer to melt. I preferred the floats with the softer ice cream consistency, and had waited the longest for the Dr Pepper float to mix together.

The Coke float was an amazing blend of the thick vanilla and cinnamon flavor of the soda and soft serve ice cream. Unlike the other two floats, the ice cream seemed to melt immediately and mix wonderfully with the soft drink. There is no doubt that Coke is an amazing soda to pair with soft serve ice cream.

The overall experience, with the fizzy bubbles, sweet soft serve, and the tangy flavors of all the sodas, there is no doubt that Chick-fil-A has made an amazing improvement to their treat menu. If you are someone who does not care for any variation of root beer but loves a good float, Chick-fil-A is the place for you!
