This week Trojan Drama Club prepares for its Spring production, Notes on Love; this is the seniors’ final play before graduation as they prepare to go off to college and begin their lives. Performances are Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 7 pm and end on Sunday at 2 pm. Fittingly, this play centers around Love in all of its shapes and sizes apart from romantic. Love can be anything from an old friend to an entire family. Love knows no barriers.

“It’s all kinds of love not just relationships, and it even shows the bad sides of love like grief and copying. I love how it shows all sides of that, it’s beautiful,” senior Varianna Harbin said.

Underclassmen are currently in training to take over the many jobs that our seniors will leave behind. Seniors leave their legacy by signing the drama club room floor, expressing years of dedication and love towards the productions. A lot of work goes into the production of the play, including hair crew, makeup crew, costume crew, stage crew, and light and sound technicians, to name a few. All of these crew members spend hours teaching their successors the ways of drama club through showing them skills and techniques.

“The seniors have made such a big difference in my life, and I don’t think I would be the same person without meeting them. Myren, Max, Olivia, and Alyssa are who inspired me to become so involved with drama in the first place. Next year is going to be hard without them, but I know that they’ll go on to do great things,” junior Peyton Bohannon said.

Behind the scenes, drama club is a family in every sense of the word as they support each other and help one another through difficult times. They spend hours together and always lend a helping hand wherever necessary. Everyone has a place in drama club. They realize shared interests that allow one to make new friends beyond grade-levels.

After this production, members reunite through the Thespian banquet, which celebrates drama club feats in hours, awards and senior gifts. This is the final time the drama club family is together before the final send-off at graduation. A tradition that continues with its members, heartfelt notes and moments fill the last production week.

“I’m so sad to leave drama club and my friends here, but I’m happy to continue my life into bigger things,” senior Mercedez Hall said.

Memories fill the air as we say goodbye to seniors through tear-filled eyes. The production is a result of love, sweat and tears and its a beautiful opportunity for actors to share a part of themselves with the audience. These scenes bring actors and crew closer together as they work towards the common goal of entertaining the audience and having fun after school. Drama club is left in the hands of its underclassmen, and it looks forward to seeing what its future holds after the seniors’ graduation.
