The Trojans traveled to Covington to face the Chargers on Friday night. This game did not go the way the Trojans had hoped, but they played a great football game. In the first quarter, the Trojans had a huge defensive stand, forcing a four-and-out on one of the best offenses in the state.
The Trojans then marched down the field, and Peyton Hill got into the endzone to make the score 7-0 Trojans. In the second quarter, the Trojans gave up two unanswered touchdowns, going down 14-7 with the Chargers up at halftime.
At the start of the third quarter, the Chargers were held to a field goal with a big stop from the defense, then the Dyersburg offense could not get it going and had to punt. The Trojans' defense stood tall against the Chargers, forcing them to go for it on a fourth and one, which looked like a huge stop for the Trojans during the play, but when the play ended, the ref spotted him three inches short they ended up giving the Chargers the first down, which led to a 48 yard touchdown by Covington the very next play making it 24-7. The Trojans answered with a touchdown by Dillard, making it 24-14.
The Trojans were able to pick up a stop in the fourth quarter, which led to a big drive by the offense downfield for the Trojans, with about four minutes remaining. Dyersburg got the ball all the way down to the 15-yard line. The ball was snapped, and it was pitched back to Terry. He ran around the outside, and the ball was punched out.
The Chargers had a scoop and score, and the Trojans lost 31-14. The Trojans will be at home this Friday night, facing off against Martin Westview at 7:00.
