Over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, Trojan Drama took a trip to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to participate in the 2026 Thespian Conference. Every year, it is held at Middle Tennessee State University, and a variety of different educational classes are offered, from classes on dancing and singing to classes on how to make sock puppets and portray a wide variety of emotions through one monologue. 17 students from the drama department came on the trip, and each one remarked that they fully enjoyed the trip and looked forward to going again next year with more of their friends.
“I really enjoy going to Thescon every year and learning about new techniques I can use for our next production,” senior Max Peckenpaugh remarks. While there are various classes that are offered, there are also various One-Acts, Plays and socializing opportunities offered to the students who participate in the conference. This year, the shows Peter and the Star Catcher and The North Platte Canteen were shown on MTSU’s Tucker Theatre Stage. The One Acts that were shown were Yellow Wallpaper, Help Desk, Closing Shift, The A.I. Play, Need a Lift, Bulletproof Backpack and The Play that Goes Wrong . Overall, the trip for the Trojan Drama Club was highly successful and helped to curate a sense of community and a variety of talents to be used in the next production.
