Dyersburg High School's teachers deserve a lot of recognition for the hard work they do, one of those being Mrs. Angela Lee. Mrs. Lee is Dyersburg High School's only health science teacher, resulting in her teaching a multitude of classes in the health science department.
Mrs. Lee teaches anatomy and physiology, health science, medical therapeutics, nurse-ed, clinicals, and medical terminology. She is also the HOSA sponsor, and her classroom is located in the west wing of the high school. She has many practice dummies in her classroom as well as a skeleton that she uses to teach.
“She is a sweet, chill teacher, and she knows a lot about health and healthcare in general. Also, when we are in class, the atmosphere is fun yet productive,” junior Gabi Goodman said.
She brings a smile to all of her students' faces. Mrs. Lee uses a variety of different teaching styles, like hands-on projects, reading the textbook, and slideshows, ensuring that all of her students' learning styles are acknowledged.
“Her teaching has prepared me for college because I want to do something in healthcare, and her classes helped me confirm that,” Goodman said.
One of the student's favorite projects that Mrs. Lee did was being able to touch a real heart. She was teaching about the parts of the heart, so she brought a cow's heart to show her students. She also brought a cow liver to let her students see and touch through a plastic bag.
Another one of the students' favorite projects was creating a replica of a human brain. Students were able to cut out the parts of the brain and tape them together to create a "brain-hat". After all of the students were finished, they took a picture with all of their hats.
Mrs. Lee brings a smile to almost every one of her students' faces every day. Multiple students have said that she is one of their favorite teachers. Students appreciate her teaching style as well as all of the projects they complete. Mrs. Lee is deeply loved by the school.
