Trojans sting Hornets once again

Last Saturday, the Dyersburg High School men's and women's basketball teams played South Gibson High School’s basketball teams. 

The Lady Trojans were defeated, the final score being 50-64, with Kay Kay Strayhorn leading the team with 23 points, 21 of which came from three-point shots, and with Chelby Jordan consistently scoring points for her team and ending the game at a total of 19 points

Between the two basketball games, the seniors who participate in winter sports were announced. For boys' basketball, the seniors were Peyton Hill, Demonte “Rell” Johnson, Cameron Rhines, and Isaiah Thomas. The girls' basketball seniors were D’Zya Currie, Kathleen Harrell, Chelby Jordan, Lily Kate Jones, Elizabeth Lemons, and Aerie Quinn. The Basketball cheer team had 11 seniors: Victoria Armstrong, Destinee Brown, Micah Crowder, Starr Finch, Brooklyn Fite, Bailey Nolen, Catherine Lazure, Seth Pounders, Ava Winegardner, Maddie Kate Wells and Peyton Yarbro. The step team had 2 seniors, Kamaria Crews and D’Quarte Rivers.

The Dyersburg High School boys triumphed over the South Gibson boys, initially lagging in the first quarter. Then they started scoring consistently and led for the final three quarters, ending the game with a 55-49 win and bringing home another Trojan victory. Their leading scorers are Jace Ward with 19 points and Jayce Ellerbrook with 10 points.
